"In the past two years, I found that when the young people heard the message of liberty, they overwhelmingly responded favorably, fully realizing the failure of the status quo and the need to once again endorse a system of self reliance, personal responsibility, sound money, and a non-interventionist foreign policy while rejecting the cradle-to-grave nanny state all based on the rule of law and the Constitution...mas"

Obama
1. Barack never would have stood a chance if not for my two homeboys, Tupac and Warren Buffet.
2. USA, the baddest MF's on the block.
3. Others intuitively embraced Warren Buffett’s view that if you are rich and successful today, it is first and foremost because you were lucky enough to be born in America at this time — and never forget that. So, we need to get back to fixing our country — we need a president who can unify us for nation-building at home. Read More

Oden
Greg Oden is one of the most overrated players in the history of the league. I have no idea how he got so hyped up, but he will never live up to it. He is nothing more than a poor-mans Joel Przybilla . He has no offensive game, and he cant even run down the court to play D. At least five times in the first quarter of last night's game against the Lakers, he was so far behind the play that the man he was supposed to be guarding got an easy dunk. Its very hard for me to see him ever averaging more than 10 pts and 7 rebs per game. Mark my words, Roy Hibbert will have a better career than Greg Oden.

Villasenor got word of ProElite's closure Monday afternoon. The news hit him hard. He is not only out of a possible $60,000 payday, but also finds himself without work.
"It really hurts," Villasenor told ESPN.com. "It bothers me that I won't get this fight. I have bills to pay.

Ron Paul
Ron Paul is against the war in Iraq. Ron Paul wants to bring the troops home. Ron Paul received more campaign contributions from soldiers abroad than all other Presidential candidates combined.
Em
After a lengthy period away from the spotlight, Eminem is set to return with his new Dr. Dre-produced album Relapse. “For probably the past five months pretty much straight I've been working with Dre,” he announced earlier this month, before dropping the first taster for the album in the form of “I’m Having a Relapse.”
But now Eminem has turned his attention to the forthcoming presidential election, announcing: “I’ll vote for Barack." Speaking with characteristic frankness to DJ Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, he said: “I know we are going into a recession. Pardon the cliché but we need something to change. I think Barack would be a breath of fresh air, to get in there and actually get what's left of the Bush administration out the door."
An official release date for Relapse hasn’t yet been set, but it’s thought that it could come out before the end of the year....
Eminem has said that creating music, rather than fame, is now his only focus.
Despite having spent the last three years effectively in retirement, Eminem criticised the state of rap during his absence.
"I don't mean everything about rap is crap. I just mean the majority of it," he explained.
"Actually I think TI's new album is great and I've been pumping that for the last two weeks every day in my car aside from my own stuff as I record it.
"Andre 3000 is also incredible. So I just mean rap in general."
His autobiography, Eminem: The Way I Am, is released today

Muslim

This summer, the photographer Platon took pictures of hundreds of men and women who volunteered to serve in the military and were sent to Iraq or Afghanistan. He followed them on their journey through training and deployment, after demobilization and in hospitals, to compile a portrait of the dedication of the armed services today. Sergeant Tim Johannsen, who lost both legs when he drove over an I.E.D. on his second tour of duty in Iraq, made a point of buying an Army T-shirt to wear in his photograph. Of his sacrifice, he said, “It’s just part of the job. You know what you signed up for.” Sergeant Matthis Chiroux, a military reporter who has become a vocal opponent of the Iraq war, says that he and others like him “take our activism as a continuation of our oath of service.” Like many who enlist, Johannsen and Chiroux come from military families. Sergeant John McKay, a marine whose uncle and grandfather were marines, and whose three-year-old son posed in uniform at the wedding of a cousin, also a marine, said, “He’s just waiting till he’s eighteen.” He went on, “I’m scared for him, but if he wants to do it I’ll support him.”

Cuba
After revising estimates, Cuba now claims it has double the amount of oil in its offshore reserves than previously thought. If the estimates are accurate, Cuba would have just as much oil as the U.S.
This discovery, coupled with initiatives to develop alternative energy projects, such a brand new biogas factory, will put Cuba on the fast track to achieving energy independence.
If it in fact has 20 billion barrels of oil offshore, Cuba would slingshot into the top 20 of oil producing nations worldwide. They plan to start drilling next year for reserves located in the Gulf of Mexico, north of Cuba. The U.S. Geological Survey recently completed a survey in the area of discussion and arrived to an estimate far less to that of Cuba’s. Cuba has responded by suggesting that they have better data than the USGS, and with Cuba’s data they think the USGS would undoubtedly agree about the size of the oil discovery (apparently the offer to provide the data has been made).
For comparison, the United States currently is thought to have about 21 billion barrels of oil reserves.
Given the respective sizes and populations of each country, it’s easy to understand why Cuba will reach energy independence far more quickly than the United States (at least as long as there is oil in the world). Cuba currently produces about 60,000 barrels of oil per day. It buys an additional 93,000 a day from Venezuela at a reduced price to help meet its energy needs (they provide doctors for Venezuela in exchange as well as sports instructors).
But Cuba’s quest for energy independence is not succeeding simply because of luck and oil. They also are taking important steps such as banning incandescent light bulbs and investing in new alternative energy technology. For instance, a new biogas plant will help provide energy and electricity by processing organic waste. Construction of the plant was recently completed. It is located at a garbage dump in Havana that processes 60% of the capital’s waste. The United Nations’ division of Industrial Development provided assistance with the project and Switzerland’s Government provided financial support.
What About the Embargo?
So the big question is whether or not Cuba’s oil discovery will put added pressure on the United States to lift its embargo on Cuba. With the possibility of having another significant oil supplier, what do you think the United States should do?

Poll Projections
So you know how everyone always talks about big networks' media bias in projecting the election results? Well I decided to look for some small reporting services that had nothing invested in the results of the election, in hopes of getting a non-tainted source. Here's what I found, keep in mind it takes 270 electoral votes to win...

Did you hear what Kayne said in the song swagger like us? Apparently he's "tryna get that kobe number, one over jordan." I mean its a pretty ballsy line I'll give him that, but Kobe's no MJ.
Yo call me crazy, but doesn't right now seem like a good time to buy into the stock market?

Elgin Baylor, Greatest of all time?
I recently read a great piece by Bill Simmons on ESPN's Page 2 arguing that Elgin belongs on the same list as Wilt, Jordan, Russell etc. and it was pretty convincing. Here is a taste:
It's impossible to fully capture Elgin's greatness five decades after the fact, but let's try. He averaged 25 points and 15 rebounds and carried the Lakers to the Finals as a rookie. He scored 71 points against Wilt's Warriors in his second season. He averaged 34.8 points and 19.8 rebounds in his third season -- as a 6-foot-5 forward, no less -- and topped himself the following year with the most amazing accomplishment in NBA history. During the 1961-62 season, Elgin played only 48 games -- all on weekends, all without practicing -- and somehow averaged 38 points, 19 rebounds and five assists a game.
